We're considering a 2020 Mini SE for my dad. All of us siblings are pitching for the car. he commutes 40km daily and we have home charging (no solar panels). The car seems perfect for his needs, plus it comes with a long warranty. We've always bought used before and this one has decent mileage and a good price. However, are there any known weaknesses with the used Mini SE that we should be aware of before buying? We'd want to account for maintenance costs too. Any advice appreciated!

Absolutely love my 2020 MINI SE. If you're considering a used one, definitely check the service history and have a trusted mechanic look at the brakes and suspension. Sure, all EVs eventually need a battery replacement, but the benefits are amazing. Regenerative braking (I love this!) saves wear on the brakes, and the short wheelbase makes you weave through traffic with ease. If you still have any questions, I'd love to answer them!

Have you bought one already? The SE requires little maintenance. The brake fluid should be changed every two years. Rust is often more of a problem for brakes than actual wear and tear. In many cases, regenerative braking protects the brake pads.

Minis are a blast to drive, no doubt about it. But, they're not for the faint-hearted. These little cars are built for fun, but they're also high-maintenance. If you're thinking about getting a used Mini, make sure it has a clean history and one previous owner. Don't skip oil changes and keep an eye out for weird noises. If you're willing to put in the extra effort, a Mini can be a great car. But if you want something a bit more low-maintenance, consider a VW Golf or a Honda Civic Si. They're fun to drive too, and they might be easier on your wallet.
