Ventilation actuator issues

My ventilation system has been making knocking noises, and my Foxwell 530 scanner detected fault code 9C4A. Does anyone know if the dash needs to be removed or if there is a simple solution? What side of the footwell is it on, by the way?

That knocking noise is often caused by a faulty blend door actuator. The good news is that it might not require removing the entire dash. From what I’ve seen online, the actuator is usually accessible from the passenger footwell. But you gotta go down and dirty with fixing it. You’ll likely need to remove a trim panel or two to reach it, so it’s worth checking that side first. If it’s the actuator itself causing the issue, replacing it should stop the noise.

I appreciate the insight. That seems doable. First, I'll try if I can get to the actuator by looking in the passenger footwell. I do hope that changing it will solve the problem without requiring much disassembly.
