Swapping tires from an old car to a new one

I have some winter tires from my old car that I want to use on the new one (they are the same size). When I put the winter tires on, will the car know how to check the tire pressure, or do I need to do something special to make it work? Can I fix it myself, or do I need to go to the car shop to make it work? Thanks!
 
If the winter tires from your old car have tire pressure monitoring system sensors compatible with your new car, the system should recognize them after a quick reset. If not, then you need to get TPMS sensors installed and programmed at a tire shop. Good luck!
