I have a 2016 Mini Countryman S that was initially diagnosed with a bad engine. However, it turned out to be a simple dead battery issue.

Now, I'm facing a new problem: the engine won't start. The code reader shows a 0033FF fault with the engine oil pressure control valve circuit. After investigating, I found that the coils aren't receiving power due to a ground issue. I've replaced the fuel pump relay, but the problem persists.

I've checked the power supply to the DME and confirmed that it's functioning correctly. The engine cranks, and I suspect it's getting fuel, but there's no spark. I'm leaning towards a faulty crank or camshaft position sensor.

Unfortunately, my Autel scanner isn't providing live data, but the tachometer does move when cranking. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you've already done a lot of troubleshooting, but the lack of spark combined with the tachometer moving while cranking makes me suspect the crankshaft position sensor. If it’s faulty, it can stop the engine from firing. Even if fuel is getting through, the engine won’t start without proper timing signals. If you’ve got access to a multimeter, you could test the sensor’s resistance to confirm.

That 0033FF code makes me think there might be an issue with the wiring or connections around the oil pressure control valve.

Definitely worth a closer look. As for the no spark, I would bet on either the crank or camshaft sensor. The tach moving is a good sign, though!

I am curious to hear what solves it, so please come up with an update.
